Keea was exhausted.

It had all just been too much. As she shuffled tiredly into her assigned quarters, she didn’t even give so much as a second to look around. Her muscles were aching, her fur was matted, and she could think of exactly one thing right now: a hot shower.

A shower would fix things. A shower where she could just relax, let the tiredness of the day roll off of her shoulders. Quickly discarding her clothes to the floor, she stepped into the well-lit and spacious bathroom. The water was hot just seconds after turning the handle.

A shower where she didn’t have to think about the day. Where she didn’t have to decide how she felt about the fact that she was deep underground, with no way to contact her loved ones. Where she wouldn’t think about the fact that she was taking refuge deep in the base of a global supervillain paramilitary. She wasn’t going to think about that right now.

The dog stepped forward, letting the hot stream roll off her head, muzzle, shoulders. For what felt like the first time today she felt her muscles untense. It was safe here. She didn’t need to think about any of it while she was here. Exhaling a deep breath, she turned to the various dispensers of shower gel lining the wall to read her options.

Her hands did little to muffle her scream of frustration.
